Rafaela and Valentina are New Zealand-raised, half-Chilean, Australian-sounding, ex-London-living sisters. They are a curiosity of cultures, with a sense of humor as strong as their sense of adventure.
Growing up with a father who made his living as the singer and songwriter of a Latin dance band in New Zealand meant that a life in music was unavoidable. They have been writing and performing together since they were teenagers, constantly developing their style as a duo.
Their time in London was hugely influential in their lives and music. Never ones to take it easy, they found new friends, a new home, and experienced the pain and joys of finding your own way in a new, and sometimes overwhelmingly intense city. They emerged with a new sound and a lot of songwriting material.
Their song Electric was a semifinalist in the pop and music video categories in the 2017 UK Songwriting Contest.
They love performing and whilst living in London they featured in the Evolution Festival at the Lyric Hammersmith and headlined at Red Cross’ annual London Red Shoe Walk.
In their dreamy, chilled-out synth pop tracks they sing about life in big cities. About saying goodbye and having no choice but to walk away and be okay. About chance meetings you can’t forget.
And sisterhood, of course.
